Drop-in art making
Join us at Phillips@THEARC during Building Bridges Across the River’s Taste of the Harvest for a special drop-in art-making experience inspired by Sam Gilliam’s creative use of color, fabric, and materials.
From 2-4 pm, local interdisciplinary fiber artist Aliana Grace Bailey will lead a drop-in creative activity inspired by her artistic practice and Sam Gilliam’s work. Art-making opportunities will continue from 4-8 pm with Phillips Educators.
Drop in anytime—no registration or previous experience required. All materials provided, while supplies last.
About Aliana Grace Bailey
Aliana Grace Bailey is an interdisciplinary fiber artist, designer, and care worker. A native of Washington, DC, she is based between DC and Baltimore. She advocates for radical self-love, wellness, and healing. Her large-scale weavings, collages, and installations explore ancestral healing, memory, and collective care. Bailey’s work is featured in Tomorrow the Sun Will Rise: The Phillips Collection Juried Exhibition.
Aliana is an alumna of NC A&T State University, where she earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Social Work and Visual Arts Media Design. She has worked as a socially-engaged teaching artist since 2017, after completing a fellowship at The Sanctuaries. In 2020, she earned her MFA in Community Arts and a Certificate in College Teaching of Art from MICA. Aliana is a 2026 Center for Craft Teaching Artist Cohort grantee and 2025 Janet & Walter Sondheim Art Prize finalist. She has completed art residencies in Ghana, the Mid-Atlantic, MASS MoCA, and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, alongside an apprenticeship at The Fabric Workshop and Museum.
