Hands-on with Comic Collaging
with Noreen Smith
In conjunction with the exhibition The Artist’s Experience: From Brotherman to Batman, join us for a hands-on workshop led by Noreen Smith where participants are invited to create an imagined story that they want to share. We will explore the artist’s practice of creating collages from comic books such as Flash, Batman, Aquaman, Silver Surfer, and Black Panther. Through the process of deconstructing, overlapping, weaving and layering, the artist uses collage to recreate the untold stories of women of color—stories of how we overcome and are victorious. Participants will wander into the world of fantasy and create a superhero from a story or superpower each of us relate to.
No experience necessary. All materials provided.
