Hands-on with Comics & Storytelling
with Ronald Wimberly
In conjunction with the exhibition The Artist’s Experience: From Brotherman to Batman, join us for a hands-on workshop led by Ronald Wimberly where participants are invited to explore the art of storytelling. For many cartoonists, story is central to their practice. In Japan, some cartoonists use a four-act structure called kishotenketsu to make simple, four panel comics called yonkoma. Even a four-story building with a poor foundation will topple easily. Likewise, a story with a poor foundation falls apart. We will explore building stories with kishotenketsu as a foundation and put it into practice, building our own four panel yonkoma comics.
No experience necessary. All materials provided.
