Treasuring Trees
Bring your family to investigate materials, methods, and ideas in art.
How do you treasure trees? Have you enjoyed the shade of a tree on a hot summer day? Felt calm as you looked at the sky through a tangle of tree branches? Admired the changing colors of leaves in the Fall? Eaten just-picked fruit? Watched squirrels gathering acorns from an oak tree or deer foraging in the forest?
Inspired by the special installation Jennifer Bartlett: In and Out of the Garden, we will explore our connections to nature, particularly trees. Families will have a chance to tour the exhibition with a museum educator, and in the studio, guided by a teaching artist, create mixed-media compositions that depict how we treasure trees. We will learn collage and printmaking techniques as we celebrate the many gifts that trees offer us.
