Join The Phillips Collection for 2016 Contemporaries Bash
WASHINGTON—The Phillips Collection’s 2016 Contemporaries Bash celebrates the rich culture of Qatar and the Middle East in one dazzling night of cocktails, music, food, fashion, and dancing. Inspired byDoha’s vibrant colors and the city’s renowned Souq Waqif, Dreaming of Doha caps off the Phillips’scelebration of artistic exchange and cultural diplomacy between the State of Qatar and the United States.
Dreaming of Doha guests will be treated to live music by DJ Ben Chang and a premium open bar with cocktails provided by Total Wine & More. Guests can sample sweet and savory bites, flex their gaming muscles in the Entertainment Software Association lounge, be enchanted by a falconry demonstration, or visit the Henna station to be ornamented with arabesque patterns. Further arts-inspired entertainment includes an Arabic calligrapher and an interactive air sculpture by artist Daniel Wurtzel.
The Contemporaries Bash and Annual Gala raise critical resources for the museum’s award-winning education programs that forward K–12 education reform, art and wellness, and lifelong learning in the Washington, DC, community, across the country, and globally. Phillips programs deeply engage students, teachers, families, and adults in mindful, arts-integrated experiences that foster greater understanding of our world. The museum catalyzes K–12 education reform with Prism.K12, the Phillips’snationally-tested methodology for educators of any core subject area to develop robust arts-integrated lessons.
