Event Details
Inspired by The Warmth of Other Suns: Stories of Global Displacement, join us for a discussion about maintaining culture and identity through migration and displacement. Panelists examine parallels between the Great Migration of African Americans from the American South and the flight of refugees from war zones to more hopeful places. Artists Sheldon Scott (performance and graphic artist with roots in Gullah culture) and Helen Zughaib (artist born in Beirut who created a series about the forced migration of Syrian refugees, inspired by Jacob Lawrence’s Migration Series) join in conversation with Phillips Collection Senior Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art Vesela Sretenović and Millennium Art Salon Co-Founder Juanita Hardy.
Organized in partnership with Millennium Arts Salon.
