Let’s Make Friends
Teacher Workshop
How does looking at works of art help us see differently? How can we experience works of art through the perspective of other people? How can art help us to connect more deeply with ourselves and with others?
In this virtual teacher workshop, we will explore the art and artists in the special exhibition An Italian Impressionist in Paris: Giuseppe De Nittis (on view at The Phillips Collection from November 12, 2022-February 12, 2023). Through art, we can see and consider another person’s perspective and also imagine what someone may be thinking and feeling. We will consider how our own experiences affect how we view the world and experience empathy. Discover new friends while looking closely at works of art and consider how we can use empathy to better understand art, artists, and ourselves.
The workshop will be 2 hours, and DCPS teachers are eligible to receive 2 PLU per session. Teachers beyond DCPS are welcome to attend but may not be eligible for credit.
