Event details
Inspired by true events, Bakersfield Mist is the story of Maude Gutman, an unemployed, chain-smoking ex-bartender living in a run-down California trailer park, who believes the painting she bought in a thrift store for $3 is really an undiscovered masterpiece worth millions. Written by Stephen Sachs, this play questions class, truth, value, and the meaning of art.
Directed by Timothy Douglas (2017 National Black Theatre Festival Lloyd Richards Director Award), featuring a cast of Mitchell Hebert and Dawn Ursula. Following the staged reading there will be a talk back with the director, cast, and Phillips Theater Consultant Ann Greer.
