Event Details

Embark on a family friendly art adventure to celebrate the delights of the Nordic Winter! Stay warm inside the museum’s galleries and enjoy traditional art projects, stories, films, and performances from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Recommended for ages 4 and up.

PERMANENT COLLECTION

Pick up a Discovery Pack at the admissions desk or in the art workshop for family activities to enjoy as you explore the collection.Don’t miss Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s Luncheon of the Boating Party and Jacob Lawrence’s Migration Series.
 
PAPER ARTIST FROM DENMARK
1–4 PM
Auditorium Reception Area (Lower Level 2)
Create beautiful paper crafts in a workshop with Danish paper artist Torben Jarlstrom.
 
ART PROJECT FROM ICELAND
1–4 PM
ART WORKSHOP (LOWER LEVEL 2)
Create traditional winter crafts.
 
Music Workshop with Finland
1 & 3 pm
Library (Lower Lever 1)
Playful family workshop, “Sing & Shine in Winter Time,” with music, games, and dances from Finland and Nordic countries with innovative choir conductor and charismatic performer Sanna Valvanne. Recommended for ages five and older.
 
Children’s Films from Norway
1 & 3 PM
Sant Seminar Room (Lower Level 2)
Enjoy a screening of five film shorts selected by the Norwegian Film Institute. Total run time 52 min. 
 
Dance Performance FROM sWEDEN      
2 PM
Auditorium (Lower Level 2)
Watch “Fauna and Me,” an exciting performance of Swedish music, theater, and dance with choreographer Minna Krook.
